Children Of Music Project
Derived from the profound recognition of the power of music to generate a deep and real change, the association’s vision is to provide and broaden musical involvement and creation among at-risk youth. We believe that in our way of educating, musical activity can help in building a healthy and harmonious society that is beneficial to all.
Activity Methods
Each of the youth participating in the Children of Music project undergoes a systematic and structured three-layered process, carried out over three years:
The personal layer: where the student acquires personal skills in writing/singing/playing an instrument, in individual lessons,
The group layer: where the student is an integral part of musical ensembles,
The communal layer: where students initiate, produce and actively participate in cultural events in the community,
As well taking part in other communal contribution events.

The Jaffa’s Children of Music project was founded in 2012 by Ran Shimoni, a lauded drummer and valued musician in the Israeli music industry.
Participating children arrive from the diverse population groups in Jaffa – Jews, Arabs, new Olim/immigrants from the Ethiopian community, as well as the children of foreign migrant workers residing in the city.
Among other things, the project is unique thanks to the broad support Ran enjoys from the Israeli music industry, enabling him to enlist Israel’s leading performing artists, including Yehudit Ravitz, Asaf Amdursky, Yermi Kaplan, Shai Tsabari, Erez Lev Ari, Django, and others. Some are employed as regular teachers at the center.
